I am an eclectic reader, and I pick and choose. I once used to incessantly consume texts and underlining was my yoga, but have now become hesitant and choose more carefully. I abhor compartmentalization in all its forms but understand that categorization is inevitable. At the same time, I resist compartmentalization, and if you find me subtly orientating with one ideology or another, I would respect your right but you must know that I am a perennial shape-shifter when it comes to the world of ideas and thoughts.
I have wide-ranging technical interests from machine learning and signal processing to language and logic. I am an undergraduate in electrical engineering and have graduate degrees in computer engineering. My doctoral research, which now seems a distant event in the past, was focussed on the analysis of cariophysiological signals, however, I have also done active research in computer vision and IoT security. I am currently working in the area of speech and natural language processing. You can see my technical publications here. I am associated with the Center of Data and Text Engineering and Mining, National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad.
I am also a literary hobbyist with multidisciplinary interests in philosophy, science, and literature. I have been associated as a translator with the Tempelton Foundation grant titled From Conflict-Independence to Dialogue-Integration: Discovering and Designing Resources for Rethinking the Religion-Science Relationship in Pakistan. As part of the project, my translated essays on the philosophy of science of Charles Sanders Peirce won the Urdu Science Award 2017. I have also translated various novels, short stories, and non-fiction anthologies. A collection of my poetry Shahrah-e-Shawq was published in 2015 (you can access it here). My book Dubidha won the prestigious KLF 2022 best book award in the category of Urdu prose (you can buy it here). An incomplete list of my literary works is shared below.
